Merriam-Webster defines hope as, “to want something to happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true”. That is marketing in a nutshell. When you start the marketing process, you are hoping for a particular outcome. For most, that outcome is increased sales. When you launch a new marketing campaign you have no idea if it will be successful or not, but you are hopeful. Turning your hopes into a reality is the goal of marketing.
Every business hopes to be successful other wise they would not have started their business. Along with your hopes you must apply work. Hope without the work will yield nothing. If you want to add two new customers to your business each month, hope alone will not help your reach that goal. This is where work/marketing comes in. Take the time to develop a marketing strategy. Your marketing strategy is simply this, the tactic or process you will employ to reach those desired customers. Remember marketing is a “numbers game”, meaning the more people you reach the more people you can expect to respond to what you have to offer. Deciding on the right strategy may require research or additional professional assistance, but if you lay the ground work properly and stick with your plan, you should successfully reach your goal.
I won’t continue on with how important it is to not only hope, but also apply work when it comes to marketing because I think you get the picture. I will however, say that marketing helps you turn your hopes and goals for your business into a tangible reality. Hope without works will fail as will a business without marketing.
