In my last blog post for 2013, I talked about “out with the old and in with the new” so now that the new year has started have you given any thought as to how you can be a better business owner this year than you were last year?
I’ve given this topic a great deal of thought. I know that as a business owner I am changing some of the ways I conducted business last year. I want to use my past experience as a lesson and in doing so, change and improve the way I relate to my customers and how I run my business in general. No, this does not mean that Mad Lady Marketing will no longer be mad, quite the contrary, I think I’m even more “mad” this year than I was last year. I know I will continue to focus on marketing as that is my passion, but every now and then, I may throw another business matter into the mix. Marketing goes hand in hand with a number of business practices that business owners either overlook or just flat out ignore. This year, I will no longer let you stick your head in the sand and blame marketing or lack thereof for your business failures. Own up to your part and know that the buck stops with you - the business owner.
If this post does nothing else other than make you stop and think, even if just for a minute, about how you can improve the way you conduct business, then I guess I’ve gotten my message across. But if this post will take you from mere thought to real action then I’ve done my job!
In 2014, don’t just talk about it, be about it! In 2014, stop making excuses about why you can’t and figure out ways in which you can! In 2014, don’t let you be the reason why your business is unsuccessful. Make this year your best year ever, let go of the past and vow to be better this year than you were last.
